Dems Turn on Stevens After Rogers Switch

Washington Examiner · first seen 6d ago · 28 outlets

Jason Turkish, the fiancé of Michigan Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens, said Wednesday at a Republican Jewish Coalition event that he plans to vote for Republican Mike Rogers in the state's Senate race. Turkish, who is Jewish, accused Democratic nominee Abdul el Sayed of antisemitism and said el Sayed's rhetoric on Israel and appearances with streamer Hasan Piker make Jewish communities less safe.

Stevens lost the August primary to el Sayed and later endorsed him. CNN reports she hasn't appeared at a campaign event with him since shortly after the primary. Fox News reports her former campaign chair, David Kramer, also plans to vote for Rogers.

When concern about the safety of Jewish neighbors comes from inside a candidate's own circle, it deserves a serious hearing. Whether Stevens changes her position isn't known.
