Sanctuary Cities Ignored Nearly 9k ICE Detainers

Before anything else tonight, a hard story.
A new 22-page House Judiciary Committee report, led by Rep. Jim Jordan and Rep. Tom McClintock, says sanctuary jurisdictions in California rejected 8,901 ICE detainers across three agencies. The California Post obtained the report.
According to the report, Los Angeles police honored four of 4,177 detainers received between January 2020 and June 2026. San Francisco's sheriff's office rejected all 2,201 it received through August 2026. San Diego County's sheriff declined 2,527 since January 2023, including 894 last year. The periods differ by agency.
The report accuses Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic leaders in the state's largest cities of shielding deportable immigrants from federal immigration authorities. The governor's office did not respond to a request for comment. Families deserve a government that enforces the law it already has.
