West Virginia Sues TikTok: App 'Harming Kids'

West Virginia is suing TikTok in Kanawha County Circuit Court, accusing the app of being built to keep children hooked while misleading their parents about the dangers. The state wants civil penalties of up to $5,000 per violation, restitution, and a court order forcing child safety changes. The Hill says the suit names ByteDance, the parent company, and the complaint ties viral challenges to school property damage, car break-ins, and one vehicle theft. A neighbor of mine had a heifer that figured out the gate latch, and within a week the whole herd was standing on the county road, looking innocent. More than a dozen states and Washington, D.C. are running similar suits, so TikTok is about to get well acquainted with a lot of courthouses. Anybody who's mended a fence knows you don't fix it by hollering at the cattle.
