Polymarket Halts Trading After $2.65 Million Siphoned
Polymarket paused trading Thursday after a security incident drained funds from user wallets within minutes. The company says a third-party provider was compromised, and the incident is tied to DebugBear, an analytics vendor the platform uses. Reported losses range from over $2 million to $2.65 million, depending on the outlet. The Washington Examiner reports that only Polymarket's international site was affected, and U.S. users were not. BNO News reports trading resumed at 3 p.m. ET, and the company says affected users will be made whole. The matter has been referred to law enforcement. Polymarket's statement says: "We'll make this right and are fully reimbursing all affected traders." Who was behind the attack has not been identified, and the exact number of users hit is still unsettled.
