Governor Orders Probe of Peltola Camp Over Name

Gov. Mike Dunleavy has ordered an investigation into whether the Peltola campaign should face charges or penalties over a Senate candidate who shares Dan Sullivan's name. The New York Times reports Peltola advisers and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee aides helped recruit him, a retiree from a small Alaska fishing village. Peltola and the committee denied any involvement before the report ran. Fox News says the Justice Department is running its own criminal investigation and expects to issue subpoenas within days, which is a long way from slow as molasses in January. Denying any involvement is the same answer a calf gives when the gate's standing wide open. Ballots are Tuesday, less than a week off. Back home, nobody needs a consultant to explain why a name that close bothers you.
