Pope Leo Casts First Papal Vote in US Election

Washington Examiner · first seen 4d ago · 16 outlets

The Will County clerk's office says Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost, requested a mail-in ballot for the midterms on October 3. The Vatican later confirmed he submitted one in Chicago, and its press office said he "has exercised his right to vote as a United States citizen." Good for him. Somebody in Rome took his civic duty more seriously than most of the Washington bureaucrats I know.

He's still a registered voter at a New Lenox address, and records show he has voted in several Democratic and Republican primaries and general elections since 2000. The records don't show who he picked, and I respect a man who keeps his business to himself.

NBC Chicago reports the clerk hadn't received the ballot yet, so it's still out on the road somewhere like a heifer that won't come back to the barn.
