Disgraced Mayor Admits Embezzling $400k

The Daily Mail reports former South Lake Tahoe mayor Tamara Le Ann Wallace admitted wire fraud Thursday over about $400,000 taken from Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church, where she was a part-time bookkeeper. Over six years she wrote reimbursement checks to her own accounts, which is a lot of reimbursing for one person. Never miss a good chance to shut up, and she passed on every one. She was the only employee who could log into the church's digital accounting system. The church got so close to closing that programs were cut and late fees piled up. Wallace resigned in October 2025 and faces up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine at sentencing in January. I've seen smarter decisions made by a cow stuck in a gate.
