Feds Probe Alleged Peltola Ballot Scheme

Federal prosecutors stood up in Anchorage and said both civil and criminal investigations are underway into an alleged ballot scheme in the Alaska Senate race. The Justice Department reportedly subpoenaed both Peltola's campaign and the second Dan Sullivan's campaign, and NBC News, citing a U.S. official, reports at least three dozen new subpoenas and preservation requests. Mary Peltola calls the whole thing a distraction and says it's all stuff to sell newspapers, which is a funny way to describe subpoenas. U.S. Attorney Michael J. Heyman was recused until he became lead attorney, a timeline that'd get the whole feed store talking. Folks keep trying to dress up this second Dan Sullivan business as something respectable, and you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
