Masked robbers broke into the Toronto home of David Morton, 75, in the Bridle Path neighborhood around 3:40 a.m. Thursday, police told the NY Post. Morton and his daughters, Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton, were shot. The intruders also struck Morton's wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, with a hammer, and the family resisted.
Morton, a Canadian real estate executive, described the ordeal as horrific. "No family should ever have to experience this," he said. Our prayers are with the Morton family and with every household that should feel safe behind its own front door.
Anyone who forces his way into a family's home before dawn should answer to the law.
