China Purges Record 33 Military Brass
China's Communist Party expelled 33 officials after its fifth plenum, 16 of them senior military officers. The last two directors of the Central Military Commission General Office are out too. ZeroHedge counts only two of the seven CMC seats filled, which is a lot of empty chairs for an army that likes to march in step. The charges were described only as serious violations of discipline and law. Back home, when my hired man quits in a hurry and won't say why, I don't need a press conference to know what happened. The BBC's analysts figure Xi is clearing out threats before the 2027 Party Congress. Breitbart quotes Carnegie China's Chong Ja Ian saying Xi is consolidating power around himself. Sounds like a man who doesn't trust the help.
