DOJ Warns Election Officials of Possible Jail Time

Any rancher who has lost a calf knows you keep the paperwork. The Justice Department ordered election officials in all 50 states to keep voting records for at least 22 months, and willfully destroying them is a federal crime, up to a year in prison and a $1,000 fine. Officials say the point is making sure only eligible citizens' votes count. DOJ also plans about 1,000 monitors across the 50 states to report possible federal law violations. Democrats, meanwhile, are running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Acting Deputy Attorney General Trent McCotter put it plainly: "We're trying to ensure that every citizen who votes has their vote counted." Hard to argue with that.
