Dems BOTCH Maine Scandal, Could Sink Senate Dream
Susan Collins wants a sixth straight Senate term, and Democrats picked Troy Jackson, a former logger. He only got the nod July 25, after Graham Platner pulled out amid sexual misconduct allegations he denies. A political scientist says the late start hurt, but Jackson still has a decent chance. The Daily Mail talked to about half a dozen Bangor voters the week before Election Day, and they generally leaned toward Collins. James Cox put it plainly: “Susan Collins is more of a familiar face to me.” Back home, a horse you've ridden for years beats a fancy-saddled stranger. With the midterms about a week out, the race is too close to call. Swapping nominees this late is like a hog on ice, all motion and no traction.
