US Embassy Warns of Mass Casualty Threat in Moscow
I won't dress this one up. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow put out a security alert Saturday warning of a credible threat of a potential mass-casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, a popular tourist site in the Russian capital. The embassy told people to stay away from the area on Oct. 31 and to avoid crowds.
The alert also advised people in Moscow to keep their phones charged, stay aware of their surroundings, and go over a personal security plan. The embassy said the U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response. Daily Mail reports it's unclear who might be behind the threat, and nothing in the reporting says an attack has happened.
If you have family or friends in Moscow, pass this along and make sure they take it seriously. Looking out for Americans overseas is the first job of the State Department, and this alert is that job being done.
