$2M Learjet Crashes Near Palm Beach, Fireball

NY Post · first seen 36h ago · 14 outlets

A grim one to report, and I'll keep it plain. A Learjet 60 went down in a mobile home area of Greenacres, Florida, in Palm Beach County on Sunday around 1 p.m., and the impact set off a large fireball. The FAA says nine people were aboard. The jet had left Austin-Bergstrom airport in Texas and was bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

Just the News reports all nine aboard were killed, but other outlets say officials haven't yet confirmed how many died or were hurt, including anyone on the ground. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is treating it as a mass casualty incident. People nearby told The New York Post it sounded like a missile.

The FAA and NTSB will investigate, and the cause hasn't been determined. Private jets run under federal safety rules too, and the NTSB, not the rumor mill, will tell us why this happened. Until then, pray for the families who got the worst phone call of their lives, and for the neighbors who heard it happen.
