Trump Plot to Knife Hegseth Leaks Amid Iran Strikes

Around my place, one open gate empties the whole pasture. The Daily Mail, citing The Atlantic, reports Trump privately asked advisers whether Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine should be fired after the midterms, while he weighs fresh Iran strikes. Netanyahu reportedly wants those strikes right after the midterms, and Trump wants talks to run. One outside adviser told the Daily Mail that "Hegseth is good at telling the president what he wants to hear," which is what a man says when he's sure nobody will ask him to repeat it on the record. Between the anonymous advisers and the leaks, Washington is running around like a chicken with its head cut off, and I'd bet the next story is who talked to the Atlantic.
