Mysterious DC Power Outage Hits Agencies, GWU

Washington Examiner · first seen 8h ago · 2 outlets

Pepco says crews are investigating an outage that hit about 1,100 customers in Foggy Bottom, which is a lot of people sitting in the dark and a number a utility can actually count. The Washington Examiner quotes State Department facilities describing an "unscheduled loss of electrical power," and I'd like to know who was supposed to schedule it. George Washington University lost power too, and D.C. Fire and EMS reported smoke from manholes on the 1800 block of H Street NW, which is the kind of thing that makes a man check his own breaker box twice. Running three stores taught me that a blackout is cheap to talk about and expensive to sit through. The State Department, which likes to lecture the rest of the world on infrastructure, apparently had to sit in the dark and wait like everybody else.
