Crater Shows Florida Learjet Disintegrated in Plunge

Nine people died Sunday when a Learjet 60 came down on a six-lane stretch of pavement in Palm Beach County. The New York Post says aerial images show a deep crater where the jet struck at speed, and that the crash seems to have ruptured a water main under the road, which then flooded. Among the dead was the co-pilot, 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, a Palm Beach County native. Her family, and the families of everyone aboard, are in our prayers tonight. Answers about what brought that plane down will take time, and those families deserve them more than anyone.
