Trump Issues Blistering Final Midterm Warning
President Trump closed out his midterm pitch Monday at the freshly restored Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, one day before Tuesday's vote. He called these the most important midterms of his lifetime and admitted sitting presidents usually lose them, which is more candor than I get out of my teenagers about homework.
He says the pool is better and more beautiful than ever, renovation headaches and all. Anybody who has managed a contractor knows those headaches. Mine swore the bathroom would be finished in June, and I'm still stepping over the sawhorse.
He also floated a triumphal arch and a promenade to the Potomac, and promised $5,000 payments if Republicans hold both chambers. Trump says Democrats nominated the most extreme and dangerous slate in American history. Bless their hearts, they'll have to make that case to voters Tuesday, and I'd love to hear it over sweet tea.
