NTSB Finds Signs of Midair Breakup in Florida Jet Crash
This one's hard to read, and harder to write. A Learjet 60 operated by Upper Jets crashed near Cresthaven in Palm Beach County around 12:51 p.m. Sunday, killing all nine aboard: seven passengers and two crew. The jet had left Austin-Bergstrom in Texas bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Debris is spread across ball fields, businesses and homes, and a man leaving the area suffered a leg injury.
The crew had reported icing and turbulence and declared an emergency shortly before impact. An NTSB official says, "We do have some evidence that there was some breakup of the aircraft before impact." Investigators are still determining whether components separated before the jet reached the ground.
Please keep the nine families and the neighbors in your prayers.
