Americans Head to Polls in Midterm Referendum on Trump
Election Day is Tuesday, 3 November, and voters decide control of the Senate and House, with Republicans defending both chambers. The Guardian has Trump's approval between 33% and 37%, a record low, and the BBC says diesel went from $3.75 before the Iran war started in February to a record $6.52 a gallon in September. I've bought diesel for thirty years, and that kind of number makes a man stop talking about policy and start checking the tax bill. Democrats have targeted Senate seats in Ohio, Texas and Maine, and final polls put them ahead in five of seven key contests. That's a lot of confidence from people who've never signed a payroll check. Somebody in Washington should try making payroll once.
