Qantas Addresses Emergency Evacuation After Wing Flames
Passengers on Qantas flight QF1737 reported flames shooting from under the wing shortly before the Airbus A320 was due to take off from Karratha Airport for Perth on Sunday evening. The plane returned to the bay, passengers were deboarded safely, and the flight was cancelled.
The Daily Mail quotes a Qantas spokesperson: "Our pilots followed standard procedures and the aircraft returned safely to the bay." Qantas has arranged accommodation and rebooked passengers for Monday morning, and engineers will inspect the plane before it returns to service.
Credit where it's due: a crew that turns a jet around and gets everyone off safely has done its job. The inspection matters more than the spin, and passengers deserve the straight answer it will give.
