Cheerleader, 19, Killed in Halloween Mass Shooting

Let's be quiet for a second and get this one right. Giana Dettloff, 19, a freshman cheerleader at North Central College, died at the scene of a shooting at an off-campus Halloween party near Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say nine people, ages 16 to 22, were shot, and the other eight were wounded. A preliminary autopsy says Dettloff was shot multiple times in the chest and pelvis. Police Chief Jamal Simington says officials will identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Her family, her college and the police have paid tribute to her, and our thoughts are with them tonight. Whoever did this should be found and held accountable. A community that wants answers deserves police who will go get them, and a justice system that follows through.
