Dem Wes Moore Wins Re-Election in Deep-Blue Maryland

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore won a second term, and the Associated Press called it at 8:01 p.m. NBC News projected the same result. He beat Republican Dan Cox again, four years after beating him by 32 points, so this rematch had the energy of a sequel nobody asked for. Voters also weighed a constitutional amendment allowing congressional redistricting that would benefit Democrats, because nothing says fair elections like letting the party that benefits from the map grade its own homework. Moore told NBC News, "I'm not running for president." The 2028 chatter has already started anyway, because in this town a denial is just the first draft. A UMBC poll had Cox at 24% back in late September, so the pollsters were not exactly shy about the ending.
