Virginia and Nevada both put abortion rights into their state constitutions on Tuesday, and neither one was close. The Washington Examiner has Virginia's Amendment 1 ahead about 61 percent in early counts, and Nevada's Question 6 near 62 percent with most of the vote in. Nevada voters had already said yes in 2024 with more than 64 percent, and the state requires two straight elections, so that one is done.

The Federalist reports a Nov. 13 hearing in Tazewell Circuit Court on a challenge to the Virginia result, so our friends on the left may have popped the champagne a little early. Bishop Barry Knestout of the Diocese of Richmond says the amendment is not reproductive freedom and not compassion. The Washington Examiner reports critics fear it eases limits on third-trimester abortions by leaning on a physician's professional judgment.

The lesson is plain. When the other side writes the ballot language and you show up to a gunfight with a lawn sign, the scoreboard looks like this. I'll be accepting apologies through Friday.
