Grand Jury Date Set for Day After Election

Washington Examiner · first seen 5d ago · 13 outlets

Fox News reports the Justice Department has sent federal grand jury subpoenas to California election officials, including Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder staff, in a criminal probe of suspected noncitizen voting. At least four election workers reportedly got them, and CalMatters says an Orange County official was asked for unredacted records on about 60 individuals.

This follows Judge David Carter turning down the DOJ's bid to keep California from counting ballots tied to more than 20,000 people on a federal list of likely noncitizens. The DOJ has appealed. Three L.A. County employees are due before the grand jury on November 4, the day after the midterms, which makes for a mighty tidy calendar.

A DOJ spokesperson says receiving a subpoena doesn't mean you are a target. Fair enough. I've sold a lot of cattle and I still check the scale, so a state that gets this touchy about checking its voter rolls is a state I'd like to see weighed twice.
