Democrats took the Senate on Tuesday, and I'm going to say it plainly: Republicans lost. The Washington Examiner has Iowa delivering the 51st seat shortly before midnight, and Fox News has Jon Ossoff beating Mike Collins and James Talarico beating Ken Paxton in Texas. The Hill has Chuck Schumer saying "Against all odds we Democrats have won the Senate," which is a funny thing to say about a night when they flipped seats in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kansas, Iowa and Ohio.

The blame belongs to the consultants and hawks who ignored the base on prices and wars. Nobody in the Democratic Party earned this, and Schumer's own incoming senators haven't all agreed to follow him.
