Johnson Won't Run for Minority Leader
Here's the deal, and it's not complicated: Republicans lost the House, and Speaker Mike Johnson won't run for minority leader. He said so Wednesday, which is the Washington version of a captain announcing he'll go check the lifeboats. American Greatness counts at least 25 seats flipped, ending the GOP's 218-212 majority. Now it's Jim Jordan against Steve Scalise for the top spot. Jordan calls himself "battle-tested on the oversight front," which comes in handy when Democrats are already lining up investigations of Republicans. Emmer and Pfluger are fighting over whip. Leadership votes are November 10, and the base is grading this one. Strip the spin off and here's what's left: the team that lost the House gets to pick its next captain. Voters already graded the last exam.
