Mother, Daughter Killed in Suspected Grizzly Attack

A mother and her daughter went out near their home in Bella Coola, British Columbia, and never came back. Searchers found the mother, Jenny Balcarras, 48, on Monday, and her daughter, Selah Reed, the next day. Fox News says the pair set out on the Snooka West Trail near home. Officials suspect a grizzly bear attack. Conservation officer Insp. Jeff Tyre says it is still unclear whether one bear or several were involved, and any bear captured will be assessed. This tragedy follows an earlier grizzly attack on a school group in the same area. Our thoughts are with the family. A GoFundMe for them had reached $33,514 CAD of its $35,000 goal by Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to the RCMP and conservation officers who searched for them.
