League City VOTERS REJECT Flock Cameras

In my novels the surveillance state always works, right up until the third act, when the cameras start tracking the wrong people. Voters in League City, Texas rejected the city's license plate reader system 54 to 46, according to Texas Scorecard, and its 55 Flock cameras must come down or be covered within 72 hours. Mayor Nick Long insists, "There's no disagreement that they work." That's the line my editor would circle. If nobody disagrees the cameras work, the voters still got to disagree, and that's the whole plot. York, Maine approved a citizen-led ban effective immediately. Arizona banned new photo traffic enforcement statewide. The Post Millennial calls the League City count unofficial, so this one still has a sequel.
